Epsilon3 Changelog #36: Input Math, Global Search, Self-Serve API

Epsilon3 continues to look for ways to help you convert your legacy procedures to take advantage of modern best practices.  We now offer procedure conversion assistance.  Please take a look at our blog post about how we make it easy and fast to get started, and let us know if your teams could benefit from additional help! We also published an article about the benefits of off-the-shelf procedure software to scale.

As part of our effort to constantly make developing integrations with Epsilon3 easier and more powerful, we just launched a new site for our technical documentation at docs.epsilon3.io. As the new centralized home for all our API docs, this site will stay up to date as we develop new API features and will replace the versioned PDF guide that we have distributed in the past.

Finally, we’re so pleased to announce our newest feature that so many of you have asked for: field input math!  You can now do mathematical operations on all your field inputs directly in your procedures and record the results!

We had a great time meeting some of you at our event with Payload Space in Manhattan Beach.  Thanks for making the time to hang out with us!

New! Expressions (Field Input Math)

  • A frequent request! You can now use your Field Inputs to create mathematical expressions.  Combine inputs from across the procedure to help convert results and calculate values needed elsewhere.

  • Free-type your own expressions or use a convenient reference lookup like the one you are already familiar with from field input references.

  • Supports standard PEMDAS operators (parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction) and many more, powered by math.js.

Improved! Global Search Functionality

  • Search more quickly and deeply into your procedures. Searching within the master procedures list now includes procedure descriptions, section names, and step names.

New! Self-Serve API Keys

  • To enable your teams more quickly with the Epsilon3 API, you can now navigate to the new API tab in the Settings menu to generate your own API keys.

  • Admins can easily view the audit log in the settings page to view by whom and when a key was generated.

  • Note: This is available with the Epsilon3 Pro tier licenses and above.

New! Online API Documentation

  • View all API documentation in one place at docs.epsilon3.io.

  • This documentation is regularly updated, so you have the confidence that you’re always viewing the latest docs covering the newest API features.

  • Please reach out anytime to have our engineers help you connect Epsilon3 to your other tools, dashboards, and other systems!

Improvements

  • We've updated the design for linked procedures, telemetry, and commanding in runs!

  • We're now passing all procedure variables except attachments to the realtime API.

  • We're now passing the user, run ID, and several other values when a command is sent via the API.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where releasing a procedure could error because of redline comments created in old versions of the app.

  • Fixed an issue where an "[object Object]" error would sometimes show on the edit screen.

  • Fixed an issue where some procedure versions were being hidden in the version history.

  • Fixed an issue where dialog boxes were appearing beneath a gray background on some versions of Safari.

  • Fixed an issue where the procedure description was shown between the tags and operation dropdowns in a procedure.
