Epsilon3 Changelog #17: Offline Start, Email Notifications, More SSO
We are continuing to add the features you need! We’d love to hear from you about what you love and what else you need. Take a look at our proposed product portal page to drop new ideas or flag your needs. Of course, you can always reach us at support@epsilon3.io.
Also, read about (and listen to!) why we started Epsilon3 and how we are working to improve space missions using software-based procedures and communications on the SatSearch blog and podcast.
New! Start Procedures Offline
Continuing our rapid progress on offline capabilities, you can now start a procedure while offline. No more concerns about forgetting to start the procedure before heading out to the site.
Procedures started while offline will sync when you return online, capturing your runs.
Any images or files that you insert will also be captured, so you don’t have to worry about losing any content.
Make sure to check out the new offline status icon on the master procedure list -- the light gray checkmark means the procedure is ready for offline use!
New! Email Notifications for Reviews
Getting that new procedure version out the door just got easier! Reviewers will now get email notifications that there’s a pending procedure awaiting their review.
Add your reviewers as part of your release process and get all the extra eyes and coordination you need as part of your revised procedures!
New and Improved SSO Support
We continue to enhance our Single Sign-On (SSO) support by popular demand!
WIth SSO enabled for your team, we no longer require invited users to create a separate account and password. Now, users can simply use their SSO login to accept team invites and join your team!
We now support SAML identity providers! If you’re using Okta, Microsoft Active Directory, or another provider that offers SAML, let us know and we’d be happy to set up your SSO integration.
New! Custom Step Details
We’ve overhauled step details to make them even more powerful and flexible to meet your team’s needs.
You can now add and remove step details from individual steps when editing a procedure, to help you make procedures simpler, cleaner and more intuitive to run.
In addition to the existing step details (timing, duration, etc.), you can now add your own! To get started, add the step detail template in your team’s settings page. We currently support adding text-based and operator-based step details.
After adding the template, you can then add your custom detail to any step from the edit procedure page. Let us know what you think!
New! Safeguards for Running Procedures
We heard you! You can now enable additional safeguards to prevent busy operators from taking accidental actions in running procedures.
When enabled, operators will be required to “participate” in running procedures before they can perform actions like signing off steps, adding comments, and so on.
To opt in to this behavior, adjust your team’s configuration in the settings page, and let us know what you think!
Improvements
New! You can now easily duplicate a section with one click when editing a procedure. No more duplicating procedures and removing unneeded sections!
New! If your session expires and you need to re-authenticate with your account credentials, you will now be taken to the last page you were on so you can pick up where you left off.
New! We can now customize the default session timeout duration for your team to better match your team’s security requirements. Let us know if your team is interested in this and we’d be happy to take care of it.
We improved the UI and styling for step actions like skip step, repeat step, and adding comments.
Printing procedures and runs to PDF keeps improving! We now handle page breaks correctly for images, tables, and other content that should not be split across pages.
Security settings for team invite links have been updated to match the latest updates in security recommendations.
Improved the UI for duplicating and deleting procedure sections during edit and added an easy to use context menu.
Recording numbers in table inputs just got better! For number inputs in tables, you can now record arbitrary numbers and significant digits, including “0” and “1.00”. We’ll still validate the input as a number, but we’ll record the number exactly as entered.
Fixes
“Jump To” links will now stay clickable even after the step has been completed.
Fixed an issue with case-sensitivity that prevented some email accounts from signing in correctly.
Fixed an issue that prevented Single Sign-On (SSO) logins from working correctly in some cases.
Fixed a UI issue that affected the layout on the step details context menu.
Fixed a display inconsistency with the timestamp when showing the last user to edit a procedure.
Additional
We’ve been doing more research with our user base on JIRA integrations in order to start that soon. If you have ideas, we want to hear them!
