Epsilon3 Changelog #18: Data Export, Rich Text, Picture Sizing

As this was our last release of 2021, we wanted to take a moment and thank all of you for supporting us during our first year.  Our goal at Epsilon3 is your mission success, and we have loved seeing Epsilon3 in action!  We are so excited to be a part of your progress and look forward to supporting you even more in 2022.  If you have examples of Epsilon3 in action, please share -- we would love to see them!  As we put together our 2022 Roadmap, please continue to highlight and communicate your needs.  Our product portal page is always available for asks, and we can always be reached at support@epsilon3.io. —Laura Crabtree, CEO Epsilon3

P.S. Hear our shoutout in the Acquired LP Show podcast from Rob Meyerson (former Blue Origin president) around minute 26!

New! Rich Text Formatting

  • Our most requested feature this quarter!  You can now add bold, italics, and code blocks to add additional visual cues throughout your procedures using simple markdown syntax.

  • Rich text markdown will work in your notes, cautions, warnings, and text blocks, with more coming soon!

New! Picture Resizing

  • We are always working to make your procedures clearer and easier to execute.  We now offer three image sizing choices to help you customize your display.

  • When you add an image during procedure edit, choose your view at the bottom of the image.

  • Choose “Original” to keep the size of the image as it was created. Pick “Best fit” to have Epsilon3 automatically find the best fit for your window.  Finally, choose “Small” to show a thumbnail-sized image that you can open to full size with a click if you need additional detail.

New! Run Data Export

  • We know that learning from your procedure runs is an important part of enhancing and improving your testing and operations.  So we’ve taken the first step in making your run data more easily available for your analysts and engineers.

  • You can now export the data collected in field inputs in a CSV format simply by clicking the “Download CSV” button in any procedure run.

Improved! Linked Procedure Enhancements

  • We have made multiple improvements to help you make more seamless use of linked procedures in our quest to help your whole team stay in lockstep throughout your operation.

  • For the operator starting and ending the linked procedure: The procedures will now exit back to the parent step.

  • For other operators and viewers: We now have a linked procedure status bar showing the progress in the linked procedure without having to open it and look at the details.

Improvements

  • Improved the offline data storage mechanism to prevent the possibility of exceeding browser’s quotas for local storage. Going forward, offline data will now use IndexedDB in all major browsers, with practically unlimited quotas.

  • Improved our ability to provision backend server capacity, and increased capacity by four (4x) to better handle current and future application load.

  • Improved session management to renew the current active session when the user is active, as measured by mouse, keyboard, or other indication of user presence. This better aligns with recommended security practices and user expectations.

  • Improved styling and UI for run settings - check out the toggle!

  • Improved layout when viewing a running procedure to prevent right aligned content (linked procedures, telemetry data, etc) from collapsing in width.

  • Added helpful messages to the home page to indicate when there are no running procedures or other row data to show in the table.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue with Single Sign-On (SSO) logins that prevented some users with mixed uppercase and lowercase emails from signing in.

  • Fixed an issue related to custom session timeouts that prevented the custom value from being used when renewing the current active session.

  • Fixed an issue where procedures with very long names would cause the page layout to behave in unexpected ways.

  • Fixed an issue where the confirmation prompt was not appearing when attempting to navigate during a procedure edit. In particular, the prompt will now appear when there are unsaved changes in the procedure header portion.

  • Fixed an issue that prevented the login screen from showing when signing out on some specific pages in the app.
